Henri and Angela Botha
“Platinum Portfolio Builder alongside active investing allows us to double our results”
Having left a thirty year career in dentistry, Henri Botha now enjoys a much more varied and balanced lifestyle. Investing passively with Platinum Portfolio Builder sits neatly alongside Henri’s HMO and other property interests with Platinum Property Partners, providing welcome addition to his property portfolio, and his spare time.
Having sold his practice and left his nine-to-five Henri is certainly not bored. Henri was taken to a franchise show by wife Angela, and after careful consideration Henri decided to become a Platinum Franchise Partner. Alongside property in Chesterfield and Manchester Henri is currently in the process of purchasing another property to transform into his second HMO.
Running his first HMO with the help and support of the franchise partnership has lead to a rapid and enjoyable learning curve, allowing Henri time to dabble in stocks and shares, and improve his IT skills. Alongside this, the team in Yorkshire are busy overseeing the purchase of Henri’s third property in his Platinum Portfolio Builder.
Aside from the obvious benefits of his dramatic change in lifestyle, one aspect which particularly appeals to Henri, especially with investing with Platinum Portfolio Builder, is the longevity of the investment. “The pension situation is dire” Henri acknowledges, “but when I retire at 65 the income and capital growth continues. It’s very enjoyable to be creating something that can run and run.” This is of course true of Henri and Angela’s active investment as Franchise Partners, by investing passively through Platinum Portfolio Builder they can effectively double their results.
“All in all investing in property lets us win both ways” says Henri who is thoroughly enjoying the new world of investment opportunity that has been opened up to him. Having recently returned from a family trip to Kenya with Angela and their two teenage children, Henri reflects “if I intend to retire at 65 I have roughly ten years to create a property portfolio to support us in our old age – had I put the money I have invested in my pension over the years into property instead, I would be a very wealthy man by now.”
